About the Trip
On January 1, 2014, the Leon High School Marching Redcoats will be one of 12 high school marching bands representing the United States in the London New Year’s Day Parade. With a half-million live spectators, and more than 280 million viewers worldwide, this is the largest event of its kind.
The invitation came as a surprise to our students in September, when Deputy Lieutenant of London Roger Bramble and other representatives of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, stopped by the school for a brief band exhibition and to personally extend the invitation.
The students were honored by the invitation to showcase their long tradition of hard work and excellence as well as the opportunity to represent the school, Tallahassee, and Florida on such a high-profile, international stage.
Now the band needs your help.
Between now and December 2013, the band program will be reaching out to you, our proud alumni, friends, family, neighbors and community partners, for help in making this once in a lifetime opportunity possible. We’ve built the Leon2London website to help you find all the information you need on the trip, our upcoming fundraising events and how to make donations.
If you’re a current or future Leon band parent or student, please don’t forget to register on the site to see valuable information just for you. By registering, you’ll also gain access to the site’s forums where you’ll find interactive polls, FAQs and a way to talk about everything trip related.
We’d like to thank everyone for their time and generosity in making this outstanding opportunity possible for our students. If you can’t find the information or answers you are looking for on this site, please use our contact form to contact us.
